ISBN 0-9684059-1-6

Price: US$9.00

Synopsis:

This volume contains a collection of speeches and writings by the late President of Guyana, Dr. Cheddi Jagan, in which he put forward his ideas for a New Global Human Order where the primacy of human development is the guiding principle. He was convinced that with a coordinated international effort, poverty and hunger could be eradicated in our lifetime.

Dr. Cheddi Jagan led the struggle of the people of Guyana for Independence and later for the restoration of democracy. He was democratically elected to govern in 1953, 1957, 1961 and again in 1992 when he became Guyana's first freely elected President. Throughout his life he fought for the poor, marginalized, oppressed and suppressed peoples of Guyana and the world at large. His proposals for a New Global Human Order are his legacy to the world.

National Songs of Guyana (Compiled by Lynette Dolphin and published by the Department of Culture of the Ministry of Education in May 1991 to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Independence of Guyana).

US$10.00

Synopsis:

The book presents 25 songs (and their musical scores) by 15 composers spanning a long period of time. They are suitable for a wide variety of possible performers ranging from nursery school to adult solos, duets and choirs.

In this collection is The Song of Guyana's Children with its last verse restored. This verse was omitted in 1937 when the Parade of School Children sang the song at the Centenary Celebrations of the Georgetown Town Council and the organizers decided then that three verses would be adequate for the duration of the program.

Among the other songs are the National Anthem, My Native Land, two versions of My Guyana Eldorado, Salute to Guyana, O Beautiful Guyana and the Song of the Republic.
